Extremity Assessment (APA)
This module includes a comprehensive guide to extremity assessment. This learning activity identifies special populations at risk for skin breakdown, poor peripheral circulation and edema, and decubitus ulcers. This course has the goal of facilitating knowledge and confidence in the extremity assessment and daily care of the patient.
Medical Surgical Abdominal Assessment (AAPA)
This module includes the fundamentals of abdominal assessment in the medical-surgical environment, as well as methods used to distinguish normal and abnormal findings. It also discusses documentation tips for wound assessment and post-operative assessment of the incision using REEDA as a guideline. Finally, we will also compare and differentiate JP, Hemovac, Penrose, NG and Salem Sump drains. This learning activity is also a great orientation tool for nurses wishing to pursue a career in the field of med-surg nursing.
Neonatal Malrotation & Volvulus (NGA)
This module includes an overview of malrotation and volvulus in the newborn as well as annular pancreas, Hirschsbrung's and meconium ileus. A review of the signs and symptoms, initial management and Ladd Procedure for malrotation and volvulus will be presented. It also includes a case scenario that puts into practice the learner's understanding of the material.
Preventing Decubitus Ulcers
This module offers descriptions of the various stages of severity of decubitus ulcers, risk assessment scales used to identify vulnerable populations, assessment tips, and the role of the multidisciplinary team in the intervention and treatment of decubitus ulcers.
Understanding Bowel Sounds - QL
Understanding Bowel Sounds reviews the four quadrants of the abdominal assessment and bowel sounds parameters. It also helps to differentiate normal and abnormal findings, discusses paralytic ileus, and the ramifications of absent bowel sounds.
